John has touched so many and changed their lives in such positive ways. His encouraging influence on his friends and family will take us though his loss and hopefully have each of us living to be a better person, as he did.

He approached everyone with kindness and understanding, looking to help the helpless, bringing laughter where sorrow had crept in, never missing an opportunity to share his spiritual beliefs. John was a great friend and I will carry great memories with me forever. I believe the best way to honor my friend would be to act as he would and continue the life’s work he had started.

John was a spiritual soul who was close to god. Everyone who knew “Peppa” understood he was at piece with the lord and although he loved life, his family and friends; he welcomed the day when the lord would bring him home. John was a beloved angel here and now he will continue his mission as an angel in heaven.

Rest in peace my friend.

I met John a long time ago through my sons father. I remember thinking, "he's one of the good ones". He wasn't into causing trouble like my ex or the rest of the boys. The news of his death saddens me deeply. I know he is resting in peace in Heaven above. It must be true what they say, only the good die young. RIP :(

My condolences go out to the Pires and Afonso family, I'm saddened to just learn of John's death.
I knew John at a young age when he used to ride with the fish trucks in Brockton from house to house.
At the time he was so focused and mature for a kid his age. We later crossed paths in high school where we had art classes together.
I always admired his artistic talents and his friendly warm spirit.
He will be missed ~ R.I.P. my friend!

I met him a couple of times and never once saw him angry. One of the most uplifting and a great person to be around. Although I didn't not have the pleasure of knowing him for that long I was deeply saddened by his departure from this world. He is a better place making everyone laugh in heaven. RIP
