Darlene, Donny, Suzie, Dave, Doug, Bill and Nancy: So sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. She was a tough, strong woman right until her last days. I visited her on Friday and she pointed to a photo of the family from years ago and said, "I can't believe I survived having 7 children, and they all turned out good....I'm proud of every one of them" Cherish your memories of her. RIP Millie

Somehow, I feel like a member of the Hartley family. I was a neighbor, growing up on Hazel St. in Lincoln. I went all through school with several of the Hartley's, and in later years, stayed in touch with the family. Mildred was an awesome, amazing woman who was devoted to her family and friends. I loved having conversations with her and listening to her praise her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. At Christmas, she would ask me to look over all of the things she had made for the holiday bazaar at her church and I would often leave with a bag of "goodies" plus a beautiful afghan that she was so famous for. I'm thankful to have known such a wonderful lady. May loving memories help you all through this very difficult time.

Mildred's death represents the passing of an era when life was simpler, roots ran deeper and friends were forever.
I have many fond memories of "The Twins" playing for the Suzie Q's, life on Columbia Avenue and Jane Street and especially Thompson Methodist Church and, of course, my "Auntie Gertie".
With fond memories,
David

Nancy, Darlene ,Suzie, Billy, Doug. Donny, Dave and Kathy,
To let you know you are thought of and that your sadness is truly shared.
So sorry to hear about your Mom .
My brother Sonny called yesterday morning to tell me about your Mom. The last time I was home to RI, Virgina and I stopped for a visit with her and she seemed so upbeat and vibrant . Her usual self .
I can remember when Sis and I and your Mom would go out shopping . Sis and her loved to look at yarns and materials anything to do with sewing, knitting etc. and of course getting ready for the Christmas Bazaar. We had a great time and always had to stop for ice cream. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time and may Loving memories of your Mom sustain you in this time of sadness With Sympathy and Caring Gail

She was a wonderful and kind woman.

To David, Billy, Kathy and the entire Hartley family.
I wish to express my deepest sympathy at the loss of such a wonderful and loving woman as Mildred. In the short time I knew Mildred she touched me and my mother with her kind, gentle and out-going spirit and we will miss her.
My mother Lorraine will always remember the times she spent with Mildred at Hearthside and when Mildred and Kathy came to visit her at her home. Mom will miss sharing stories of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and hearing Mildred talk about her days playing softball. Mom will also always treasure the blanket Mildred made for her.

Dear Hartley family,
Sadly I read of the passing of your Mom, and I just wanted to extend my sincerest sympathy to you at this very difficult time. It seems our families ran parallel courses, and just having lost our Mom, you realize what a trememdous courage and effort it took to raise 7 children. Keeping you in my prayers.
