It is with my deepest sympathy and most sincere condolence I write to you about your loss.
You see Earl has been a close loyal friend, confidant and colleague for over 4 decades.
I first got to know Earl when I started my Rhode Island Jr. Sharks ice hockey team in North Smithfield Rhode Island. At that same time I was running the Jr. Whalers team out of New Bedford, Cape Cod and Hingham. Earl thought I was crazy. Not having one Jr Team but two. Yes Earl, my wife agreed- you were right! But Earl helped me scout for players and coaches and in the end, we built one of the most successful Jr franchise in New England in the early 1990s.
He always had the Earl smile and brought pounds of enthusiasm and optimism during those formative years. The days wee long but worth it. That program was the formative years of what today we know the EJHL. He was one of the original pioneers and with out him the Jr Sharks and my other team the Jr Whalers never would have commences. The Whalers had gone through many changes over the years to the Wallace Wholerpers, to the Jr Lockmonsters, to the Huskies and now the Islanders.
I moved to Florida and came back in to the Jr picture with my Florida Eels Jr Teams about 8 years ago. Who did I call? Yes Earl Fiske. Yes and he helped me scout for my regular season squads and the post season teams that played in the: Sr Chowder Cup, Pro Am NHL Pre Draft and EJHL Spring and Summer Showcases. What an awesome job we did. He wore that Eels Scouting jacket with pride dignity and respect. Players looked up to that man because they knew he had more experience in hockey than all of the scouts in the building.
The Florida Eels program has over 75 alumni playing college hockey. Then there is the old Sharks and Whalers have dozens more.
