Having known Mac for 25 years,I admired his staunch support of American Legion Baseball. He was a dedicated coach and gave much guidance to his players.
Mac, I will miss our breakfast get togethers but I know you are resting more comfortably now.

Mac's nieces and nephews will miss his smile, sharp wit, and sense of humor. He was generous with gifts when we were young, with pithy comments on the world when we were older, and with family stories of late. We are thankful for the loving care he gave to his sister Henrietta.

Mr.Wright "Mac" you were one in a million, I cant say enough kind words about you....you treated me more like a daughter than a daughter in-law. I will never forget all you did for me. I remember you coming to the door with Clyde in tow and a bag of goodies from Pattersons Market. You had such a kind (big) heart. I will never forget your smile, your hugs, your sense of humor, and your appetite for my beef stew. I love you God Bless Kimberly Chelo-Whalen xo xo xo

On behalf of the Players, Parents and Coaches of Post # 14, and our re-united Upper Deck Post 86/Post 14 American Legion Baseball Program, I want to extend our sympathy and condolences. Mac loved Legion baseball and tirelessly supported and worked to secure funding, provided on-field leadership and physical labor for the facilities.

His type of committed devotion will be sorely missed...

The entire Carey family is saddened to learn of the passing of "Mac." We owe him so much! Under his guidance on the Cumberland/Lincoln American Legion team, Tim and Todd's abilities flourished. He instilled them with the self-confidence to play in college and, eventually, the Red Sox. He also instilled in them a work ethic and respect for authority which will be his heritage to future generations. He was an unofficial member of our family, providing his ready smile and witty lessons on life. We will miss our "Mac."

Mac coached me in American Legion baseball and was a tough coach but a very caring person. Mac never minced words but was one of the best coaches and most memorable people I've every had the pleasure of meeting. He knew just how to mentor teenage boys. I have many wonderful memories of him and will miss him. Tim Carey

May you rest in peace, Mac. You always were the fun guy in the teacher's room and joked back and forth with your colleagues. I always looked forward to having prep time with Mac. It was the fastest, funniest 45 minutes of my day. Mac will be missed by the entire faculty, former students and friends at Ponaganset High School.
