Mom,
I first have to say that it was the highlight of my life to be your Son! The sacrifices you made for us kids will never be forgotten. You worked your third shift job and made sure we had wonderful meals, and a spotless house with a demanding schedule and husband, Your work ethic was an inspiration to us all, even down to the lunches you made for me as I raced home from school at lunchtime ate and raced back. I don’t know how much sleep you actually took each day, You becoming a Den Mother to the cub scouts just so I could join! My visits with you every week made my weeks complete! I am so glad we had that time, I will cherish those memories forever. I am also thankful that you were able to stay in the home you purchased in Dec. 1958 because your landlord didn’t want any more children in the apartment you were in and I was only 1 month away from being born. That home has many memories of your Holiday meals, which tradition you continued with help from others until the end. I will miss you dearly! Yet I will see you again! I can’t wait for that day!
Your Loving Son,
Norm

Norm & Cathy, I just want you to know, that even tho I didn't know your Mom /Mother-in-Law personally, I have enjoyed the stories told about her and the relationship you both had with her..I know without a doubt and because of that moment when she accepted Jesus as her personal Saviour, that I will one day meet her, as I enter Heavens Gate. God Bless U & the rest of the family..

My most heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to her loving children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren! She leaves such a wonderful legacy behind and her memory will live in your hearts always. Aunt Lucille will be missed by many. I will always remember her shining smile (and a witty joke) to lighten any occasion. I once found a plaque with the most beautiful words, that I now keep it by my bedside along with a picture of my father, Walter.
"Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy." I believe that Aunt Lucille has joined her family again, and they all are looking down upon us. I often look up at the night sky, at the stars wondering. I refer back to those words, and somehow I feel just a little bit better. I hope that by sharing how I cope, perhaps, it may help a little.

Her smile was contagious! She smiled every day especially when she talked about old times: When she used to play cards or spent time with her sisters and brothers. As a mother-in-law she was amazing. On my wedding day to Norm, she said “I will never give you my opinion about what goes on in your marriage unless you ask for it, but if you ask for it, I will give you my opinion.” Only when I asked for her opinion did she gave it and then it was in the most lovingly way. As a wife she set the finest example: I remember one time when I was married for about 10 years, dad and Norm where out together, her and I were at the house. They pulled in the driveway and she said “oh they are home; I still get butterflies in my stomach every time dad pulls in the driveway just like when we were dating.” She was so graceful even after she had lost the husband that she loved so very much she never displayed her sadness publicly. Although I knew she was hurting deeply. In her older years as a grandmother to my two girls she always managed to muster up strength to play with them. She would sing and make silly faces with them, it just warmed my heart. Her love and compassion for her family never wavered she prayed fervently everyday for each of them. In her last words to me she said “go home and pray” what a gift to give to a grateful daughter-in-law. To remind her, the most important thing to do for her family was to PRAY! I love you always and if I am half the woman you were I will consider myself a success. 2 Corinthians 5:8 “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” Thank you God for the gift of eternal life: I will see her again some day.

MOM,

I just want to know how special you were to me. All the years we had together were a blessing. Growing up you always made sure that we never went without anything. Living here all these years with you and dad, I will never forget!
I am so happy that I was there for you, just as you were here for me when Ben died and I needed a place to go. Now I have to be brave and start a new life without you here by my side. Not seeing you run after tiny and watching him jump on your couch, or sitting on the stairs in the summer, not being on the computer at night laughing. The hardest part was coming home to an empty house, not seeing you here.
Well mom I will always love you and miss you,

I love you Mom always!

I can hardly believe that she is gone. We just spent the day together last week. My only joy is that she is in a better place and did not suffer in the process of getting there.

So many memories have flooded back of us and our family over the years. Childhood memories of sleeping 3 in a bed and bathing in the copper tub with heated water. Dad bringing ice cream home as a treat. Jumping in the snow off the second story porch. Shopping and just being young girls. Later, the tragedies she endured at such a young age.
I think of the weekly trips we made to Central Falls with Aunt Louise on Mondays and lately just being able to spend time together. We always had such an understanding between us.

But now she's gone and I'm left here all alone with everyone gone before me. Saying I will miss her just isn't enough.

Till we meet again, Sis.
Love, Gerry

All of us here in Texas wish to tell Aunt Lucille's children, grandchildren and great-children how very sorry we are for their loss.

I cannot relate to this just yet and don't look forward to that day either. I can only believe that she lives on as a piece of each of you and in our hearts and memories.

I always remember her as being such a crack-up, spunky and vivacious.

She may not be here, but we love her dearly.
