My condolences are extended to your family during this time of pain and grief. It can seem unbearable at times when we lose a love one to death. It is interesting to note that Jesus felt similar emotions when his friend Lazarus died. He “groaned in the spirit†and “gave way to tears.†(John 11:33, 35) Did Jesus’ grief mean that he had no hope? Not at all! The account goes on to tell us that Lazarus was dead for four days, then Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus come out!†and what happened? “The man that had been dead came out.†(John 11:43, 44) Jehovah God made it possible for Jesus to resurrect Lazarus. Today, Jesus is ruling as King of God’s Kingdom and the hope of seeing our dead loved one again is one of the many benefits God’s Kingdom will soon make a reality. So every time we say, “The Our Father Prayer†to “Let your Kingdom come†we are asking Jesus to perform a global resurrection for all those who have fallen asleep in death (John 5:28, 29). What a happy and joyful time it will be when we reunite with our loved ones again (Revelations 21:4). I hope your families find comfort from these scriptures during this time of mourning.
