"Zepe" 68, passed on October 16th with his family by his side.
He was the husband of Joana (Baptista) Mendes and step son of Lolo Spinola.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde he was the son of the late Joaquim Rodrigues and Eva Mendes. He had been employed by Union Wadding for over 15 years. He was a member of Mount Hope Community Baptist Church.
Besides his wife he is survived by his siblings, Jorge Mendes, Lucia Mendes, Celeste "Dina" DePina, Joaquim "Quim" Spinola, Augusto Rodrigues, Antonio "To" Spinola, Pedro Spinola and Inez Goncalves, all of Pawtucket, Belmira "Belmirinha" Veiga, Justa Gomes, of Cape Verde, ILda Da Veiga of Brockton and Maria Da Veiga of Germany, four step children, 9 step grandchildren and 43 nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held Monday, October 20th at the Mt. Hope Community Baptist Church, 734 Hope St, Providence at 10am. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Providence. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 4 to 7pm in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln.
