born on June 5, 1917 to John Carlos and Fausta Bento passed away surrounded by loved ones on November 20, 2014. He leaves four children behind: William Bento, Gerald Bento, John Carlos Bento and Khrystyne Bento. Three Grandchildren, Khrystal Bento, Gyanni Goncalves and Tymaani Borges and one Great grandchild Maxwell Gray Bento. He leaves also his siblings, Robert "Barchie" Bento, John Bento, Hilda Silva, Eva Duarte, Maria "May" Barros and Marion Lation. He was the brother of the Late Marshall Bento, Annie Ramos, Catherine Goncalves and Elizabeth Britto. He was a Cape Verdean Veteran in Special Forces who returned from WWII to engage in a life long dedication to the sport of boxing. He guided many young men into a discipline that extended beyond the boxing ring into an adoption of a conduct of integrity with Christian ethics, a commitment to service. He was a well-known and beloved figure in the New England boxing community. His optimism and sense of humor warmed hearts young and old. He was an unending source of encouragement for many. His family and friends will truly miss him.
His Funeral will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 10am in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave. Lincoln RI. Followed by Burial with Military Honors in The RI Veteran's Cemetery, Exeter RI. Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Sunday 2pm-5pm
