"Tudinha",86, was born on January 28, 1929 in Mindelo, Sao Vicente, Cape Verde to the late Antonio Pimentel and Julia Pinheiro. She entered into eternal life on February 22, 2015 peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. She was the wife of the late Gergorio S. Silva and together they had 13 children. She is preceded in death by 2 of her children: Napoleon and Catulo Pinheiro Da Silva.
She resided in Rhode Island for over 25 years. She was affectionately known as “Tudinha”, a mother of great value, a teacher without equal and friend of the Madeiralzinho neighborhood. A woman of deep faith and moral value. Her greatest joy was family unity. She was extremely proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her home was always filled with laughter, music, food and love.
Gertrudes is survived by her brother, Rito Pimentel and leaves behind a legacy of 11 children: Henriqueta Pinheiro Da Silva Fonseca, Yvonne Pinheiro Da Silva Ferreira, Ademir Pinheiro Da Silva, Carlita Pinheiro Da Silva Brito, Ismael Pinheiro Da Silva, Homero Pinheiro Da Silva, Ligia Filomena Pinheiro Da Silva, Neusa Pinheiro Da Silva, Natalina Pinheiro Da Silva, Cesar Pinheiro Da Silva, Claudio Pinheiro Da Silva, 37 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A service will be held Wednesday, February 25th at 9:30am in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln. Burial will be in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, February 24th from 5 to 8pm.
