(Mrs. Nou Yee Khang) was born 3/3/1924 in the village of Phou Song Keo Vieng, in the town of Viengfa within the province of Xieng Khouang. She peacefully passed away at the age of 91 on 4/15/2015 in West Warwick, Rhode Island.
Mao Yang is the daughter of Paaj Phaj Yaaj and Txu Lis. Her parents had five children, 2 sons and 3 daughters: Joua Yee, Shoua, Mao, Mai, and Nou Shoua.
Mao was twice married. Her first husband was Nou Shoua Kue. They had 4 daughters and a son: Ka, Mee, Ntxhais, Mai, and Boua Sou. She wed Nou Yee Khang, the eldest son of Vang Xao son of Chang Ger Khang in 1968 in the village of Nam Tao. They both had one child together, Zoua. She has 5 daughters and sons-in-law and 1 son and daughter-in-law: Kab and Chong Ze Hang (Nong Het, Laos); Mee and Cha Tou (Hang Tou) Hang (Manitowoc, Wisconsin); Ntxhais and Wameng Yang (France); Mai and Vameng Moua (St. Paul, Minnesota); Zoua and Sinneng Yang (Spartanburg, South Carolina); Boua Sou and Chou Yang (Santa Ana, California). She is succeeded by 70 grandchildren.
After the death of Nou Yee in 1977, Mao and her two young daughters Mai and Zoua followed her brother Joua Yee Yang who led their family to Vang Vieng, Vientiane. It was at that time that her daughter Mee and husband Hang Tou took her to Ban Tha Ban Done and eventually to Ban Vinai, Thailand in 1979. She applied for passage to Phanat Nikom, Thailand with her husband's younger cousin Sintong Khang and eventually relocated with them to Providence, Rhode Island on 2/25/1982. Providence was her home for the last 33 years.
Mao Yang was a part of Chang Ger Khang's family for 47 years. She was a patient, kind, thoughtful, and dutiful daughter-in-law who loved her family. Despite being widowed so young, she never remarried and remained steadfast in the role of mother and father to her children, the role of a daughter-in-law, and an aunt in the Khang family til the very end.
The Khang family will greatly miss you.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, April 25th from 10am to 10pm and Sunday April 26th from 10am to 10pm in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 9am in the funeral home. Burial will be graveside in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
