90, passed peacefully after receiving loving care at the Holiday retirement home on January 26th. He was the husband of the late Agnes (Mandeville) Dion.
Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late John B. Dion Sr. and Elsie C. (Bradley) Dion.
John had been employed by the former First National Grocery Stores for over 40 years.
He was a WWII Navy Veteran serving in the South Pacific. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He is survived by four sons, Raymond P. Dion and his wife Jeanne, Richard J. Dion and his wife Kathleen, Ronald M. Dion and his wife Joan, Robert J. Dion and his wife Sandra, a daughter, Lynne Lamarre and her husband Paul, 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late John Dion and brother of the late Francis Dion.
His funeral will be held Saturday, January 30th from the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Edward Church, Weeden St., Pawtucket, at 11:30 am. Relatives and friends are invited; calling hours will be held 8:30 am until 10:30 am. Burial with Military Honors will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the activities department at the Holiday Retirement Home, 30 Sayles Hill Rd., Manville, RI 02838.
