89, passed away on Wednesday, March 2 at the R.I. Veteran's Home in Bristol. He was the youngest child of Andrzej Klos and Katarzyna (Swiatynska) Klos of Plainville, Mass.
He was a WWII Army staff sergeant who served in Korea. He spoke both Polish and English and resided in Cumberland throughout his adult life. He was the husband of the late Evelyn Klos.
He is survived by his two daughters, Rebekka O’Melia of Cumberland, and Bethany Klos; his son-in-law John O’Melia, and his two grandchildren Meredith O'Melia and John J. O’Melia, and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Michael Klos.
He worked for many years as a mechanic and engineering technician. He owned a service station in Central Falls when he was young; and most notably he worked for 18 years at the Chemistry Department at Brown University. He was educated at Northeastern University and NE Tech. He traveled to Poland and Hawaii during his retirement and he enjoyed history, politics, ocean fishing in Rhode Island and photography.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 12, at the Arnold Mills United Methodist Church at 690 Nate Whipple Highway, Cumberland, at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Diamond Hill Cemetery on Reservoir Road in Cumberland.
