went home to be with the Lord March 11, 2016, just days before his 82nd birthday. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him and ultimately gave him peace.
Truman was born in Providence, Rhode Island, March 14, 1934 to the late Louis and Elvira (Mitchell) Jarrett.
He was the loving husband of Mary Lucille Jarrett and they had a blended family of 7. Truman is survived by 4 children; William Jarrett, Toni Stokes, Regina Jarrett, and Lance Jarrett from a former marriage to Gail Daniels, and 2 step children, Andrew Harry and Jocelyn Harry.
Truman was blessed with a large and loving family which included 21 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren (2 more due in April), nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
Truman loved boxing and won trophies and awards. He worked as a machinist at Grinnell and retired from there in 1995.
Truman was a faithful member and the first Deacon of Maranatha Tabernacle Church of God. He was a man committed to living a lifestyle that honored God and represented Christianity. He was mentor and a teacher at heart, who always had time to answer a question or solve a problem.
Truman had a big heart and believed in and loved his family which included adopted people from around the world.
Truman was predeceased by his step son, Jarvis Harry, 4 brothers, Frank Jackson, Louis Jarrett, William Jarrett, and Robert Jarrett, 3 sisters, Elvira Matthews, Cornelia Hull, and May Jarrett.
Memorial Services will be held at Elmwood Avenue Church of God, 297 Elmwood Ave., Providence, on Friday, March 18th from 6 - 9 P.M. and Saturday, March 19th at 10 A.M. Burial will be private.
