known by family and friends as "Jody" died on June 29, 2016 at home. He was the son of Rita (Alves) Smith and Benjamin Smith. Jody was 42 years old and was born on December 14, 1973. He was born in Boston, Mass. and raised since he was two years old in Rhode Island.
Jody, and his late sister, Rebecca, "Becky" and his brother Manny were raised as Jehovah's Witnesses and were taught what the bible teaches about Jehovah the true God and his purposes. It should be noted that Jody throughout his life loved his mother and family. He was especially fond of his sister the late Rebecca "Becky" Smith and his brother Manny Smith who lives with his family in the state of Pennsylvania. Jody loved his nieces and nephew. He was especially fond of and close to his niece, Marcelina "Marcy" and great niece Angelena.
Despite some of the problems and struggles that he faced and went through, he was always respectful of his mother Rita. He never gave her a hard time or spoke to her disrespectfully.
Jody throughout his life was an avid basketball player and well respected coach. He coached for 27 years throughout Rhode Island. He received many awards, rings and trophies for his accomplishments.
John "Jody" Smith will be deeply missed and loved by his family and friends.
