86, a life-long resident of Central Falls, passed away on July 23. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Claire (Foran) Gamache. He is also survived by his sons, Normand E. Gamache Jr. and his wife Dr. Lois Wims, Thomas Gamache, Kenneth Gamache and his wife Susan (Lefrancois) Gamache, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was the son of the late Sylva and Beatrice Gamache, and the brother of the late Cecile (Gamache) Lariviere.
Normand had a long and happy life. He was employed at the VA in Providence, RI for 33 years, retiring in 1985, and was a proud veteran, having served as a Medic in the United States Army/National Guard from 1947 through 1974 when he received an Honorable Discharge at the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Normand was also a part time resident of Charlestown, RI for years, where he spent many of his happiest times, and he has passed his love of boating and the ocean on to his sons and grandchildren. He was a war history buff and enjoyed going to the movies on Friday nights. While his family is so sad to lose him, they know he is having a joyful reunion with Inky, Ginger, and Max, who have been patiently awaiting his arrival. Services will be private.
