Passed away August 3, 2016 at the age of 96. He is survived by his loving wife Carlota, his four sons Alfred & wife Isabelle, Donald, Edward, Anthony and steps sons/daughter Ernest,Augusto & wife Flo and Debra. He is further survived by 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Alvaro was born in the Cape Verdean Islands and started out in his early days as merchant marine traveling the world. He eventually carried his passion for the sea and cooking by working as tug boat cook for over 40 years. He lived most of his life in New Jersey and Rhode Island. In his later years he retired to Florida where he took immense pride in growing plants and fruits from here and from the old country. This allowed him maintain a connection to his heritage and share part of himself with his family and friends, whom he dearly cherished.
He left a lasting mark on all his family and friends. He will be missed... The wake will be held Sunday August 7th 5pm to 8pm at: Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave Lincoln, RI 02865, (401) 725-4253, The Memorial Service will be held Monday, August 8th at 10 am at: Bethany Church Of The Nazarene, 1275 Pawtucket Ave, Rumford, RI 02916 (401)431-0371.
