59, of Central Falls, died Thursday March 4, 2010, at home.
A lifelong resident of Central Falls, he was the son of the late Harold Raymond and Jeannette Amanda (Racine) Irwin.
A graduate of Holy Trinity Parochial School and the Community College of RI, Carl was employed for many years by The Evening Times as a mailroom supervisor as well as holding a part-time security position at Peterson Puritan (later CCL Custom Manufacturing), in addition to prior employment he had at Paramount Cards, the Providence Journal, and New England Twine and Cordage. Most recently Carl was employed through Labor Ready as a Driver's Helper for New England Motor Freight. He also volunteered his time at The George Wiley Center, a group committed to local community organizing for social and economic justice. Carl was a lover of learning and had many interests including gardening and genealogy.
He was the loving brother of Robert Ronald Irwin and Carol Ann Irwin and the loving uncle of Kimberly Ann and Amanda Alice Irwin, all of Central Falls, and brother of the late Harold Raymond Irwin Jr. Besides his family, Carl leaves behind several childhood friends who he retained a lifelong bond with and will be missed and remembered by all for his caring and generous spirit and sense of humor.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5-7pm followed by a prayer service from the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln. Committal prayers will be held Wednesday at 1pm in the Chapel of Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.
