"Thom" 66, passed January 8th at the VA Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones from complications of Agent Orange. He was the husband of Margaret "Margie" (Lemay) Hirsch.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Robert and Gwendoline (Dale) Hirsch.
He was a 1969 graduate of North Attleboro High School he then was an Army Corp. of Engineers veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked the family farm and later was the care giver to his mother and father. He had been employed by the former Bird Machine of Walpole for many years before retiring.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a brother, Robert Hirsch Jr, three sisters, Elizabeth James, Martha Felber and Dale Barth, his step children who he raised, Dawnn Cobbs and Richard Barlow and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Elaine Padula.
A funeral service will be held Friday, January 13th at 10:30am at the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln. Burial with military honors will be in the R.I. Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to NAMI National Alliance of mental Illness. www.nami.org
