of Providence, Rhode Island passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on the weekend of June 9th, 2017. She had just turned 93 years old.
Youa was born on May 1st, 1924 in Xieng Khouang, Laos to Mr. Chong Chue Yau Chang and Mrs. Tong Vang. She was the wife of the late Mr. Kia Tou Thao; and had four sisters and three brothers. She is survived by her five children: Teng Thao of Providence, Mai Vue of Laos, Chai Yang of Laos, Pao Thao of Warwick, Bee Thao of West Warwick; her 72 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and more than 10 guardian children whom she brought to America and cared for. She was a loving mother to all that sought family.
Despite being widowed at a very young age, Mrs. Thao never remarried and remained a strong and truly compassionate mother to all. She was humble, kind, and soft spoken but persevered with strength and was the guiding light for her family until her passing. Youa was a very small woman, but her enormous legacy of love and generosity will live on in the hearts of family and all those that knew her for generations.
She will be missed tremendously by everyone who knew her.
