58, passed away on June 4, 2017 at the Rhode Island Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Lillian Gborkorquellie. Born in Duside, Division 10 (Firestone, Liberia), he was the son of John P.Y. Gborkorquellie and Torwon Garnah-Dedah Gborkorquellie. George graduated from Duside Elementary and Junior High School in 1974 and enrolled at CWA (College of West Africa) in 1975. Upon graduation from CWA in 1978 with high honors, he was hired by Roberts International Airport (Flight Information Region) in 1979. He completed several courses abroad in Air Traffic Control and became a remarkable Air Traffic Controller with FIR in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea. In search of better education for his kids, he resigned from Air Traffic Controlling, and he relocated to the USA in 2003. He will be remembered for his interest in higher education and was very relentless in extending help to anyone he came across. He's predeceased by his father (John P Y) and 3 brothers (Ben Page, Deyea and Suah). He's survived by his wife, Lillian, his mother, Torwon Garnah-Dedah, seven children (four girls: Quelpaye, Norwah, Ndelmene and Twakelee; three boys: George Jr., SamDedah and Tarleme) and three grandchildren: (Connon, Keisha, and Mason. He was from a very large family (23 siblings alive) and more than 50 nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, June 24th starting at 9am followed by a service at 10:30am in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Providence.
