76, of North Providence R.I., peacefully went Home to Jesus on Tuesday, March 27th, 2018 while at home surrounded by her loving family. Theresa is the daughter of the late Jose L. Tavares and Candida L. Tavares; the beloved wife of Clarance C. Christy Sr. and the mother of Clarance Jr., Clifford, Joseph, James and Michael Christy. She is predeceased by her brothers Joseph Jr. and Hermenigildo Tavares. Memories of her will be carried on by her Sisters Mary L. Schenck, Joanna L. Fernandez, Bernadette L. Means-Tavares, Rita L. Tavares-Burk; daughter-in laws Sheena, Maria, Monica and her precious grandchildren, Ki'ana, Zaria, Jeremi, Alexus, Michael Jr., James Jr. and Emeliana as well as nieces, nephews, 'adopted' children that called her 'Mom' and an abundance of Friends who dearly loved her.
Theresa was a communicant of Holy Name of Jesus Church for many years, served as Eucharist Minister, Children Religious Educator, and Adoration Coordinator. Because of her love for Jesus she started the 'First Friday' all night adoration and Wednesday's adoration at her beloved church. Theresa was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars serving many positions at the state and national level. She followed her mother's step and served as R.I. State President from 2011-2012.
Theresa loved children and started Precious Moments Day Care during her time in New Haven, CT where she cared for children for over 15 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, on 'First Friday' April 6th at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Providence, R.I. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence, R.I. Visiting hours are Thursday, April 5th at 6 - 9 p.m. at Keefe Funeral Home, Lincoln, R.I.
