93, passed on April 13th. She was the beloved wife of the late Agostinho Duarte. She was one of 7 born to Jose and Gloria Fernandez in New Bedford, MA. She was the loving mother to the late Odete A. Furtado, grandmother to Kim Medeiros-Cannata, Jason Furtado, and the late Gary E. Furtado. She also leaves behind five great-grandchildren, Alexis Medeiros, Crystal-Lee DaSilva, Braydon, Antonio and Lilian Furtado, whom she loved dearly. Irene was a hard worker, eventually retiring from American Tourister. She was an amazing cook and loved to crochet. However her greatest passion was spending time with her family.
Her Funeral will be held Wednesday, April 18th at 8:30am from the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Avenue, Lincoln, R.I. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland, R.I. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket, R.I. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Tuesday from 5 to 8pm.
