66, passed away on August 31, 2018 at his home in Central Falls, RI. He was born on December 6, 1951 in Brava, Cape Verde. He was the son of the late Henrique D. Tavares and the late Autilia Tavares (Barros). He is survived by his stepmother Isabel S. Tavares, two children; Roger Tavares and his wife Lucialina Tavares of Providence and Jacqueline Tavares of Central Falls, 4 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother of Prescilia Gomes and her husband Fernando Gomes of Pawtucket, Henry (Djicai) Tavares and his wife Maria J. Tavares of Warwick, Henrique Tavares Jr. and his wife Paula Tavares of Pawtucket, Bonaventura Tavares and his wife Ann Tavares of Cranston, John Tavares of Pawtucket, Lidia Tavares Severe and her husband Raynald Severe of Warwick, Tony Tavares and his wife Nelia Tavares of Cumberland, and Julia Tavares of Pawtucket.
He worked most of his career in factory mills in Rhode Island and was a very skilled handyman. He was a gentle giant and was always joking around with family and friends. He loved to dance and play cards.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation from 9 - 11 a.m. on Friday, September 7th at the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Ave., Lincoln, RI, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, 661 Prospect St., Pawtucket, RI.
