"Madai" 66 of East Providence, RI peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday September 22, 2018. Madalena was born on February 19, 1952 in Brava, Cape Verde to the late Abilio Garcia Oliveira, and is survived by her mother Mariana Delgado. Madalena was loved dearly by her family and friends. She was a devoted mother to her 2 loving children Sandra and Helder Vasconcelos, her granddaughters Thaileen, Maraynah and Madalena. She was the sister of the late Maria Conseicao Delgado, Carmen Delgado, and Joao Delgado Burgo. She leaves behind 8 siblings, Maria Oliveira, Jose Delgado Burgo, Emanuel DeBarros, Maria Pires, Adelina Oliveira, Abrao Oliveira, Dolores Lamas, and Richard Oliveira.
She was an affectionate aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Madalena enjoyed being a nanny for many years to Alex, Abby, and Drew. She looked forward to the holidays where she could laugh and reminisce with her family. Anyone who walked through her doors, she welcomed with open arms and generosity. She never let anyone leave without having something to eat. No matter what she made, it was always made with love.
It was customary of her to make sure you left with at least one bag of goodies. She always left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Madalena will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friends are welcome to come and remember her life on Thursday, September 27th 6-9pm at Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Ave, Lincoln, RI. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated Friday, September 28, 2018 at 10am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 81 N. Carpenter St, East Providence, RI. For those who have known Madalena in her fruitful journey with us, her graveside service will be held at Rumford Cemetery.
