took fashion cues from no one. His signature look was a kangol hat, half buttoned up shirt to show his chest, gator shoes, fist full of rings, gold chains, and cologne you can smell from a mile away. James was given an amazing life filled with unconditional love, joy, and laughter. Born on the 13th day of April,1959 in Sumter, South Carolina. He passed peacefully surrounded by family on the 24th day of September, 2018.

James Nathaniel is survived by his ex-wife and mother of his ten children, Sallie Spears. His children, all of Rhode Island, Rodrick (Tanisha) and Syleeta Spears; Amanda (Andre), Glenda, Jayme, Jason, and Sha-heem Nathaniel; Electra Smith; Janaya and Jamari Spears. Significant other Jackie Barboza and her daughter Rayna. Extended family Mary, Monique, Anthony, and Maurice Chase. He is also survived by his siblings, Barbara, John (Vanessa), Patricia (Lee), Larry, Susan, and David Levern Nathaniel. He is joining his parents, Samuel and Rosemell Nathaniel, and his siblings Doug and Glenn Nathaniel.

James was blessed with seventeen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and a great number of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling on Saturday, September 29th from 1 - 4pm at the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln. Burial will be private.
