Luis Vieira Soares, 93, passed peacefully at home on December 18th. He was the husband of the late Maria Lucinda (Resendes) Soares. They had been married for 64 years.
Born in the Azores, he was a son of the late Jose Vieira and Maria dos Santos.
He and his wife arrived with family in the United States in 1977 and made RI their home ever since.
Luis is survived by eleven children, Luis Soares, his wife Rose, Laudalino Soares, Joe Soares, his wife Adelia, Leonardo Soares, Goretti Mello, her husband Joe, Maria Do Ceu Alves, her husband Paul, Paul Soares, his wife Ana, Grace Costa, her husband Armindo, Victor Soares, his wife Lauren, Ana Soares, Maria Waite, her husband Kim, four brothers, Jose Soares, Augusto Soares, Joao Soares and Guilherme Soares, twenty two grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln on Saturday, December 21st from 8:30am until 10am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church, Pine St., Pawtucket at 11am. Entombment will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
