Carminda B Centeio was born in Mato Grande, Brava on December 14, 1928 and died in Tampa, Florida at the age of 91. Immigrant of Cape Verde, Carminda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She was a devout Catholic and her faith guided her in her life and in the lives that she touched, especially her family. Mamai as everyone knew her was the neighborhood Mom and Grandmother. She was loved by all who came in contact with her. She was an extremely accomplished seamstress, quilter and cook. You never left her house hungry. Over the last few years Mamai made each and everyone of her grandchildren and great grandchildren quilts. Mamai loved to make her patchwork quilts and crochet, she would spend hours sewing and crocheting. These were talents that she passed on to many of us. She was the wife of the late Alberto L. Centeio, and is survived by 9 children, George B. Centeio, Louisa Vicente, Jack Centeio, Joseph Centeio, Fatima Centeio-Shinault, Carlota Centeio- Pinto, Antonio Centeio, Alberto Centeio, and Marylou Centeio. She is also survived by 32 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.
Mamai will greatly be missed by our family and will forever live in all of our hearts. She leaves behind a great void, but her legacy will continue on through each and everyone of us. She will forever be in our hearts. We love you Mamai!
Calling hours will be Sunday, January 26th from 2:00 - 5:00p.m. at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln. Services begin Monday, January 27th at 8:45a.m. at Keefe Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00a.m. in St. Mary Church, Pine St., Pawtucket. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Branch Ave., Providence. Relatives and friends are invited.
