Roberta Marie (Johnson) Tavares, 63, of Providence, Rhode Island passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Rhode Island Hospital. She was born April 25, 1956 to the late Archie R. Johnson, Jr. and Carolyn R. Johnson Davis. She is survived by her daughter Rebecca (Becky) Odunaike and two grandsons Jamell D. Odunaike and Kamil O. Odunaike. She was preceded in death by her daughter Renee Roberta Hull.
Roberta also is survived by 10 siblings: Carol-Ann M. Johnson, Carolyn Silva (Joseph), Barbra Johnson, Patricia Johnson, Robert A. Johnson, Joey M. Johnson, Joy M. Sissoko, Mandy L. Johnson, Rahaman Holley-Johnson, and Shaira Holley-Johnson. She also is survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Roberta was predeceased by seven siblings: Leslie A. McClain, Archie R. Johnson III, David V. Johnson, Michael A. Johnson, Christopher J. Johnson, and Mary V. Johnson.
Roberta was very dear and close to her daughters. She loved talking with and listening to her younger siblings, and nieces and nephews - teaching and sharing life stories with them. Her favorite pastime was talking with Helen Mets - Roberta's best friend since first grade.
In addition, Roberta enjoyed taking care of her plants and listening to reggae and old-school music, and she loved her birds and dogs.
Roberta was truly loved, and she will be very much missed by her family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Wednesday, January 29th from 10:00a.m. - 12:00p.m. at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln, followed by a funeral service at 12:00p.m. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Branch Ave., Providence.
