Larry R. Williams, Jr., 45, of Cranston, passed away suddenly on March 2. Born in Pawtucket, he was the beloved son of Joyce (Baptista) Williams, of Pawtucket, and the late Larry R. Williams, Sr., of Memphis, TN.
A 1991 graduate of William M. Davies, Jr. Career and Technical High School, he worked in the auto industry for over 20 years and was most recently employed as a Production Manager at MAACO in Pawtucket, where his work ethic served as an example to those around him.
A consummate family man, Larry cherished two roles above all others in life - that of loving and devoted husband to April (Harris) Williams and father to Oceana Williams. He was the beloved son-in-law of Lorna (Gomes) Harris and the late Kenneth Harris of East Providence. Teddy, the dog he initially didn't want but quickly came to love, also misses his daddy.
Larry also is survived by sister Ann DaCosta, and husband Yves, and brother Michael Evora, and husband Sean Nolan, all of Providence, Uncle Henry David Baptista, and wife Pat, of West Warwick, nephew and Godson Evan DaCosta of Los Angeles, CA, Goddaughter Carissah Bizzle of North Providence, nephews Christopher DaCosta of Pawtucket, and Stephan DaCosta of North Providence, as well as many cousins and innumerable people who called him "friend".
Possessed with the gift of genuine hospitality, Larry, together with April, continually and unselfishly opened his home to family and friends for gatherings both large and small. At his home, every guest was family; his ability to make everyone - regardless of station or circumstance - feel welcomed was unmatched. Loyal and compassionate, he was a fierce advocate, ever attentive to the needs of those he loved. He possessed a quiet but intense faith, initially so powerfully instilled in him by his late grandparents, Henry and Jennie (Azevedo) Baptista of Pawtucket.
Larry was a diehard Patriots fan, a secret crooner of old-school classics, and the life of every party. His smile lit up every room, and his light broke through to even the darkest places of those who were in his presence. For this, and so much more, he will be missed.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, March 7th, from 10a.m. to 12 noon at Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Avenue, Lincoln, with a funeral service directly following at noon. Burial will be at Swan Point Cemetery in Providence. A time of food and fellowship will follow.
