Maurice M Casto, 82, of Manville, RI passed away peacefully Monday, April 6th, surrounded by love at home. He was the husband of the late Jeannette Gaumond Casto. Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Maurice Casto Sr.and Marion Casto.
He had worked for the Jewish home for 18 years, Paquette's nursing Home for 12 years and Lifetime Medical for 8 years. Maurice was a graduate of the Practical Nurse Program, a member of the Auxiliary Police Officers of Central Falls, a volunteer Pawtucket Fireman, Captain of the CB Minutemen that ran Intercity in 1987. He ran RI Emergency Security from 1992 until present. He was in fraternities such as, Nation Association of Police and Sheriffs. He also ran the Community Crime watch and Park Rangers. Mr. Casto ran for City Council 4 times and State Representative twice. He performed volunteer services for the Civil Defense, American Red Cross and FEMA.
He is survived by 2 sons, Michael and Maurice A. Casto of Pawtucket, a daughter, Michelle Brunelle of Manville, a sister, Maureen Panaccione of Cumberland, 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Fredrick Gaumond and Theresa Smith.
Due to his list of accomplishments, the virus, and limited visitation rules, services will be for immediate family only. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date when a large group can gather responsibly. Condolences may be left on this website.
