Silvia Pires Gomes, 79, passed away on Monday, August 10th at the Miriam Hospital. Born in Santo Antao,Cape Verde, a daughter of the late Rafael Pires and Ana Rocheteau.
Silvia was a schoolteacher in Benefica, Portugal for many years immigrating to Pawtucket in 1978. She then worked for Texas Instruments until retirement. She was a member of the Bethany Church of the Nazarene.
Mrs. Gomes is survived by a son, Michael Gomes, a granddaughter, Estelle Louise Gomes, siblings Vladimiro Pires of Sao Vicente, John Pires of Portugal, Rolando Pires of the Netherlands and Antonio Jose Pires Ferreira of Norway, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 14th from 10:00am until noon followed by a service at noon at the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave in Lincoln, RI 02865 Burial will be in Rumford Cemetery in East Providence
