Frank N. Reis Jr, "Flinky", 63, passed peacefully on September 23, 2020. He was the son of the late Frank N. Reis Sr., and Alvira (Miranda) Reis.
In 1977 Frank started his musical career in a few local bands, including "Pain & Pleasure" as a vocalist and keyboard player. 1979 he and his childhood friends created the band Ecstasy. They were soon discovered by a concert promoter out of NY who created SUNSong productions, making Ecstasy his first signed group. Their record "It's Good for You" hit the R&B Top 40, which led to joining the Teddy Pendergrass tour, which included Stephanie Mills, Stacey Lattisaw, La Chic and Rick James among many others. They toured the East Coast ,including Madison Square Garden, wrapping up in Providence at the Civic Center in an epic show for their hometown.
He began singing locally with Transit, Orra, Twyce and more, continuing to make the local gig scene thrive and perfecting his craft.
Frank became the Musical Director for Marky Mark & the Funky Bunch in 1990 and traveled the world on the "Music for the People" Tour in 1992. He arranged all the music and organized the talent for shows, including the live performance on the Arsenio Hall Show. He also worked with various artist through Interscope Records.
He and the late Manny Barros created "Ryte Now Studios" along with Frank’s "Papadu Productions", working with a number local artists such as Varius (Originally “TipTopâ€) Lady Isom, Sean Miranda, Larry Lassiter as well as Nona Gaye and many more.
While Music encompassed most of his career, Frank also worked for MAP Behavioral Health Services, receiving many awards for his counseling, and also sold cars for Fox Toyota and King Richards’s.
He leaves behind his daughters, Teri, Linsey and Kali Reis, sons, the late Andrew J Reis and Aaron Williams-Reis, Joshua and William Snead, grandchildren Aaron Tyeah, Elijah, Carter and Liana, brother of Gail Lomba, and the late Yolanda "Yoyo" Miranda and Whitney "Botsy" Dawkins, nephews, Sean Miranda, Mondo and Shane Dawkins and a niece, Liza Miranda.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 30th, 2020 at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln, RI from 5pm-7pm, with a funeral service at 7pm.
