Umbelina Torres Fernandes, 63, passed peacefully on October 9th. Born in Linhares da Beira, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Gabriel A. and Adelaide de Jesus (Marmelo) Torres. She had been employed by the former American Insulated Wire of Pawtucket for over 30 years. Umbelina was a member of the Lusitania Club of Cumberland and a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Lisa Fernandes, her fiancé Jorge Pinhancos, a son, David Fernandes, a granddaughter, Raquel Pinhancos, her siblings in Portugal, Jose Torres, Bernardete Pinheiro, Judite Albuquerque, her siblings in the United States, Conceicao Pinhancos, and John Torres, their spouses and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday, October 13th at 8:45.am. from the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are invited to memorial services on Monday, October 12th from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.
