Florist Gretchen Cook, 87, of Providence, R.I., passed peacefully on December 14, 2020. Gretchen came to the Pawtucket / Lincoln Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses back in 1981. Gretchen was baptized in 1950 in Alabama. Gretchen’s main joy in serving her God Jehovah was being regular in her kingdom activities and in her ministry. Over the years she had the pleasure of aiding many new students into the truth. She also enjoyed helping other congregation members with bible studies, writing letters and phone witnessing as some of her main activities. Other hobbies Gretchen loved were fishing at the many lakes, ponds and streams in Rhode Island, as well as painting, gardening and tending her house plants. She especially loved baking her famous lemon pound cake. Reading the Bible and doing research was a must for Gretchen. One person who studied with Gretchen mentioned the knowledge and wisdom that she had learned from reading her Bible was like studying with Moses! Her skill and knowledge of the scriptures was amazing. Gretch had a great sense of humor which she kept right down to the very end. Earline would lovingly ask, “How do you feel today Gretch?” and Gretch would answer back “With my hands of course!” lol. One of Gretchen’s most favorite songs was Song #25 “A Special Possession”.
The family would like to thank everyone that has helped Gretchen. The loving support & heartfelt prayers have been greatly appreciated at this most difficult time. In lieu of flowers please make your donations at: donate.jw.org The Worldwide Preaching Work of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
