Purificacao Esteves da Silva died at home February 13th, surrounded by love. She was the wife of the late Guilherme Vinagre da Silva. Born in Valhelhas, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late and devoted Joaquim Antonio Esteves and Maria do Carmo dos Santos.
The oldest of 4 she quit school at the age of 13, when her mother passed away, to work full time and raise her 2 surviving siblings as if they were her own children. All self-taught, she was an amazing cook, gardener, and seamstress who also loved to embroider and crochet. She was always taking care of those in need, making sure they were not going without. She had an amazing faith that stayed with her even through the very difficult moments at the end.
She is survived by her children Carlos Silva and wife Dorothy of Saunderstown, and her daughter Marina Plowman and husband Drew of Warwick. She was the devoted and loving VoVo of Parker Silva and stepsister Andrea Collins and Erin, Derek, and Kayleigh Plowman. She is preceded in death by her Sister Conceicao dos Santos, and is survived by her loving brother Antonio dos Santos Esteves, his wife Maria, of Lisbon Portugal, and his daughter Lidia and husband Jose, his granddaughter Rita and husband Ricardo, and great-grandson Kiko. Besides her immediate family, and in-laws abroad and their children, she is survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law who gave her a lot of care during her illness: Jose and Maria Vinagre, Ana Maria and Avelino Ramos, Eduardo and Coceicao Vinagre, Carmita Roque and all their children. She leaves behind many broken-hearted friends.
Funeral will be private at Swan Point Cemetery; a celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
