Mother Leanora Victor was born in Trinidad West Indies to the late Hendry Moses and Florence Alice Wilson on July 15, 1931. In 1964, she came to see the World’s Fair in New York City and two years later became a permanent resident. She joined the ranks of Manufacturers Hanover Trust Bank in 1966 and worked to enable her six children to join her in 1969. By the grace and favor of God upon her life, she became a United States Citizen in 1972.
While living in New York City, Mother Victor accepted the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost. She attended Greater Refuge Temple Church in New York City. During this time, she grew and excelled in the knowledge of God. A few years later, she accepted the call from God to go into the mission fields. Her heart was to serve the Lord with gladness by helping others to know Christ.
Mother Victor began her missionary work in Carriacou, an island off Grenada, West Indies in 1977. In the beginning, she walked all over the island speaking on the road and in the streets to the people of Carriacou about God’s salvation. Three years later her ministry expanded to renting a house, establishing a sewing class for young ladies, holding prayer services along with lunch hour, beginning a Sunday school in Lesterre, establishing Vacation Bible School during the month of August and a daycare program for preschool and after school children.
Through the generosity of people, family, and friends in the United States, Mother Victor began building on property that was granted to the natives of Carriacou by the government. Since Mother Victor’s parents had been born in Carriacou, Mother Victor was also considered a citizen. Two buildings were built on this property. One building was a room where Sunday school and prayer meetings were held. The second building was used for residence and foreign missionaries who traveled from abroad. The foundation Mother Victor established in Carriacou has been expanded to Grenada and Petit Martinque. While serving in the mission fields, Mother Victor was blessed with the opportunity to travel to Guyana, Kenya, and Uganda. She was instrumental in getting a two-story building that housed a church and school in Uganda. Mother Victor went through many test and trials and the Lord delivered her through them all. She was a woman who prayed and believed God for the unexpected.
Mother Victor returned to the United States in her latter years to spend quality time with family and friends. The mission work continued through her testimony and kindness to others. Mother Victor leaves to celebrate her life two sons and four daughters Phoebe Noel (Matthew), Catherine Diarra, Stephen Victor (Maureen), Judy C Victor, Mary C. Holman (known as Sherry), Sylvon Victor (Teri). She also leaves 14 grandchildren and a host of great children including many others that she has nurtured through the Lord. She will be missed but we look forward to seeing her again in Glory.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 20, 2021 from 1pm until 4pm in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln. Burial will be private.
