Maria Rosa Pereira, 68, of Pawtucket RI, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2021, in the presence of her loving family and friends. Maria was born in Brava, Cape Verde, to the late Joaquin and Aida Mendes Da Graca. She is survived by her loving daughters Candida Pereira and Veronica Pereira, and her 3 grandchildren Niyah, Sophia and Myles. She is the sister of Joao De Pina of Brockton MA, Julia Gomes of Pawtucket, Jose Veiga Mendes of Brava, Cape Verde, and the late Clara Mendes De Pina. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and the countless children she has helped to raise who simply refer to her as “Vovo” or “Titia.”
Maria a devout catholic, with unwavering faith, who prayed frequently to Santa Ana, Senhora Fatima, and Dr. Jose Gregorio Hernandez, lived by the motto “when you share with others, no matter how little you have, God will always provide.” Maria was one of the most courageous woman one can encounter and she touched many lives with her warmth and caring disposition, her bright and beautiful smile, her kind words, and genuine affection for others. She loved to travel and made new friends easily. She was a loyal friend to many. She lived every day to the fullest and her hope is that we all can continue in her legacy.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from 4pm to 7pm at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 10am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 103 Pine St. Pawtucket. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Mary’s Cemetery, 661 Prospect St. Pawtucket.
