"Cookie" passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at the Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence, Rhode Island. He had just celebrated his 70th birthday on December 12th. He was a self-employed rubbish collector and very well known in the community. The son of the late Simplicio and Viola (Dawson) Gomes, he was survived by his daughter Tanya Anderson and his son Terry Anderson both of Providence, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren, two brothers E. Anthony Gomes of Florida and Simplicio (Jay) Gomes of California, and five sisters Hattie Gomes of Missouri, Eva Gomes of Florida, Adelina Gomes of Rhode Island, Carolyn (Tootsie) Sealey of South Carolina and Paulette Culver of California. He was the brother of the late Vernon Gomes, Florence Santos, Angelina Watkins and Raquel Christina Gomes. He leaves behind a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Monday, December 20th at 12:00 noon at the Allen AME Church at 163 Bellevue Avenue in Providence, Rhode Island.
