Cidalia R. DePina, 66, entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, May 18, 2021. She was born in Cabo Verde on the beautiful island of Brava. She was the daughter of the late Jose Rodrigues, Maria Santos, and stepdaughter of the late Domingo Santos. At the age of 16, she moved to California to be with her father and begin her life in the United States. A few years later, she moved to Rhode Island with the intention of giving her mother and siblings the same opportunities she had. Once settled, she began her work in helping them move to the United States. This was one of her proudest accomplishments. At the age of 23, she took on the most important role of her life: motherhood. Her children and grandchildren were her life. A natural caregiver, she provided childcare to countless children both within and outside her family. Cidalia was a pillar of the Cape Verdean community in Pawtucket, and she will be missed by many. She was a proud member of Corazon de Brava, a woman’s group which, among other accomplishments, was instrumental in the building of a school in Brava. Her passion and therapy were spending time out in her garden, as well as helping others to perfect theirs.
She is survived by her children: Kevin, his wife Jessica, Kellyanne, and Kimberly; her siblings Jose Silva, Anita Silva, Henry DaSilva, Julia Santos, Paula Santos, John Santos, Marcelino "Charlie" Santos, Daniel Santos, Sarah Santos, Michelle Santos, and David Santos. She was the loving Vovo of Keondre Silva, Kaylisya Silva, Kali Rodriguez and Kevin "KJ" De Pina.
Relatives and friends are invited to Calling hours from 9:00 am – 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 26th at The Keefe Funeral Home with a service at 11:00 am. The burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Pawtucket.
