Ronald D. Braxton, 69, of Cranston Rhode Island died June 6/24/2021 at the Home Health Hulitar Hospice Care facility. Ronald retired as an Honorary Life Member of the Graphic Communications Conference International Brotherhood of Teamster Local N 3. He served as the secretary on the board of trustees for his local union. At one time, he served as an usher at the Olney Street Baptist Church. He also had served his community as kids’ basketball coach at the Cranston YMCA.
Shirley Braxton is the wife of the late Ronald D. Braxton.
Ronald was born October 17, 1951 in Providence, Rhode Island. He was the son of the late John Braxton and Velma (Taylor) Braxton.
Ronald is survived by his wife, his son Ronald Grant of North Carolina, his two brothers, Curtis of Connecticut and James of New Jersey and sister Nancy of Rhode Island. Ronald has 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He also has nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Ronald started his working life serving as an apprentice printer operator while attending Central High Vocational School in Providence Rhode Island. After graduating from Central High in 1969, he started full time work in the Printing trade as a press operator until he retired.
Ronald loved his immediate family with all his heart and he tried to do his best to help them in any upright way possible. Ronald had fond memories of good times with his family, often reminiscing about the good old days spent at gatherings with his mom and pop and siblings at Goddard Park with his many cousins.
Ronald had a big heart toward others such as lending a helping hand without being asked to. He did such things and more, like picking up groceries for relative during their grievance or giving flowers to a friend’s mother to get a smile. He always brought a smile to the face of everyone he came in contact with. He was quick to give good advice to others on how to approach their issues so that they would maintain their dignity. He was very conscious about the right way to greet and threat and get along with others. He vehemently stood up to doing the right thing in order not to make others feel embarrass even though he knew that would make him unpopular. He always tried his best to live a decent respectful life. And he did for the most part.
Ronald truly enjoyed all types of music. He performed as a DJ at family gatherings and at other functions. He liked photography. He took many pictures of his family and friends at social gatherings, and of things he liked. He even took pictures professionally of music artist Janet Jackson. Ronald, father, husband, pal, friend, and better half will be dearly missed every day up until we meet again.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 2nd in the Keefe Funeral Home from 9am - 11am with a service at 11am. Interment will be at Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Boulevard, Providence Rhode Island.
