Barbara Ann Chippis (84) a lifetime resident of North Providence, Rhode Island went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, while surrounded by her family.

Barbara was born in Providence, RI on June 14, 1937, the daughter of Ernest Alarie and Beatrice Viveiros. Barbara also became the daughter of Roy Wieselquist, after her mother found herself suddenly widowed at the age of 24. The mishap occurred while Barbara was just a baby.

Barbara was married to Charles Chippis, who emigrated to Rhode Island from Athens Greece, when she was 18 years old. Charles and Barbara raised 5 children and became business owners when they acquired Sparky’s Restaurant in Central Falls, RI, just a few years after they were married.

Barbara was very athletic and treasured the outdoors. She especially loved being next to the ocean. She excelled in bowling, winning many awards while she was a member of the Rhode Island Women’s Duckpin Bowling League during the mid 1960’s. Her awards included women’s high single champion in 1967, when she bowled a score of 298.

Barbara was a very outgoing person who loved people. Her home was always a hub for countless family gatherings, neighborhood cookouts and parties. Barbara was also a very active church member and taught children’s catechism. She loved nature and always marveled over God’s spectacular creation. She was also a food connoisseur of world cuisine, and a terrific chef.

Barbara leaves to cherish her wisdom and loving memories to her eldest son Steven, her son Nicholas, her eldest daughter Cynthia, her son John, her youngest daughter Mary, her brothers Roy and Charles Wieselquist, her grandchildren Alan, Gregory, Nicholas, Tyler, Sarah, Joseph, Michael, and many great grandchildren, cousins, and friends that are too numerous to mention by name.

A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at The Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 1081 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence, RI. The family will receive friends at the church location beginning at 8:15 A.M., with a Mass of Christian Burial starting at 9:00 A.M.
Burial will be private. Flowers are respectfully omitted.
