Anita A. Messier, 91, of Smithfield, formerly of Lincoln, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2021. She was the beloved wife of the late Rene O. Messier for 54 years. Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Eva (Lambert) Laverdiere.
Anita loved to play cards and Bingo, belonged to the Lincoln Senior Center, Smithfield Senior Center and volunteered at the Cumberland Senior Center. She also belonged to the Mended Hearths #338 and Washington Hill Association of Lincoln.
She was the loving mother of Rosemary Howard and husband Arthur, Allen Messier and wife Sandy, Richard Messier and friend Sue Brumbaugh, and Gail Hall and husband Allan. She also leaves eight grandchildren, Karen, David, Jarret, Raigan, Amber, Andrew, Joshua, Sara; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Alfred Laverdiere; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Jean Spolidoro and Rita Howard.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Sunday August 29th from 6:00 – 8:00pm at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln, RI. Burial will be Monday, August 30th at 10:00am at Notre Dame Cemetery, 359 Daggett Ave., Pawtucket, RI.
