Kenneth "Kenny" Alfonzia McClain, 33, of Providence died tragically succumbing to his injuries at Rhode Island Hospital on August 21, 2021. He was the loving son to Hope & Robert "Beanie" Johnson and Alexander McClain and the late Robbyn Hines-McClain. He is survived by his two sons, Kinzel and Kayden McClain. He is also survived by his six siblings: Alexandria McClain, Kiara McClain, Alexander McClain, Alexis McClain Jackson, Rania Johnson and Malia Johnson. In addition to his siblings, he leaves 12 extended brothers and sisters, Robert, Jerica, Ni’mah, Amani, Jabriel, DaShauna, Malcolm, Aisha, Ruqayyah, Robert III Johnson and Jasmine & Chantel Hines. He leaves his maternal grandparents McArthur and Shelia Rance. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother the late Judy Thomas and great-grandmother the late Ethel (Thomas) McCullough. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents the late Leslie McClain and the late Robert Morris, and Great-Grandmother the late Carolyn Davies. Kenny leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Kenneth graduated from Hope High School, Providence, RI class of 2006. Kenneth pursued a career in construction with goal of becoming a carpenter one day. He promised to build his mother a house. In addition, he also enjoyed working alongside his grandfather in the family landscaping business. His grandfather "Rance" lights up with a smile because Kenny was a reliable, hardworking partner who matched his energy. Kenny had a special relationship with his cousin/uncle Kinzel Thomas whom he admired so much he named his firstborn child after him. Kenny enjoyed playing basketball and spending time with family. As a teen Kenny played basketball with Faith Christian Center, D2L Basketball Team, which his grandfather coached. Kenny had an infectious smile, great sense of humor, an easy going personality and was loved by many.
Visitation will be held August 27th, from 4pm to 5pm, the funeral service will follow from 5pm to 7pm at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln, RI. Burial will be private. Masks required at all services.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations in the honor of Kenneth McClain to the Nonviolence Institute, 265 Oxford St., Providence RI 02905.
