Michael M. Lague entered eternal life unexpectedly on September 15, 2021, in Mystic, CT, at the age of 57.
He was born in Central Falls, RI on October 5, 1963. He was the son of the late Raymond A. Lague and Claire A. Lague of North Smithfield.
He leaves behind his beloved daughters, Erika Fletcher and her husband Zachary of Lincoln and Allison Forget and her husband Christopher of Manville. He also leaves a son, Matthew Lague and his wife Hannah of Broomfield, CO. He was the very proud Pepere to Ella and Cole Fletcher and Sophia Forget. He was the former husband of Margaret Wadick Lague.
He is survived by his siblings, Annette Loiselle (Robert) of Lincoln, Denise Renaud (Kenneth) of Johnston, Gerard Lague of Tampa, FL and Laurie Madan (William) of Laconia, NH. He was the brother of the late Elaine Minke. He was known as the “fun” uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Michael graduated from Central Falls High School, Class of 1981. He then went on to graduate from Bryant University in 1985. In 1998, he obtained his MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Over the years, Michael was sought after for financial positions, business consulting and later for mergers and acquisitions for various companies around the country. He was employed by Allied Signal, now known as Honeywell International, The Stanley Works Tool Group, Suburban Energy Group, Star Gas, Ingersoll-Rand Company, Danaher Corporation and Nortek to name a few. He was also the former owner of All Trade Services. Presently, he was the owner/operator of Mystic Custom Canvas in Mystic, Ct., which he founded.
Michael and his family moved from Rhode Island to Michigan, Connecticut, South Carolina and New Jersey to follow his job opportunities. He resided in Mystic for the past four years.
Besides his family, Mike’s greatest love was being on the water. He thoroughly enjoyed sailing for many years. He was involved with competitive J Boat racing all around Narragansett Bay, Block Island, CT and NJ. His competitive spirit even led him to the World Olympic Sailing Games with the International Sailing Association in Marseilles, France. In recent years, he embraced power boating on “Sonray.” His favorite place on the planet was always Block Island, RI. There he found peace and contentment with nature and the ocean.
Mike, as he was known to many, had an extremely outgoing personality. If you met him once, you remembered him. He had many God given gifts and talents. He could do anything he set his mind to no matter how difficult it was. He was always highly driven. Perhaps because he was the youngest of six children, he always knew how to make people laugh and smile. He had a very generous heart and loved his children and
grandchildren more than anything. Mike will always be remembered with much love and fondness by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held at The Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Avenue, Lincoln, RI from 4-7 pm on Friday, September 24, 2021.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 10 am at St John Vianney Church, 3609 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland, RI. Burial will be private.
Memorial donations may be sent to a charity near and dear to Mike's heart - Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 No. Main Street, Providence, RI 02904
