Elizabeth "Lizzy" Ferro age 63 of Rumford, RI went to her eternal rest on September 26, 2021, with her family by her side and after a courageous battle with Covid Pneumonia. Lizzy was born in Praia, Cabo Verde on July 25, 1958 to her loving parents Joao De Oliveira S. Ferro and Raquel Silva Ferro. Lizzy immigrated to the United States with her parents and 5 siblings in 1975. She graduated from East Providence Senior High School in 1977. She attended Eastern Nazarene College and completed her studies at Rhode Island College. She worked as a social worker for over ten years. Lizzy loved giving back to the community, especially the Cape Verdean community. For over 20 years she practiced as a paralegal, focusing her efforts in assisting the Cape Verdean community navigate the legal system. She specialized in Immigration law, receiving numerous certificates and accreditations. Lizzy was fluent in many languages (Portuguese, Cape Verdean Creole and Spanish). She would often use her talents to assist those in need, translating documents or interpreting in court proceedings.

Lizzy was kind, loyal and compassionate. She had a passionate love for her native country of Cabo Verde and its people. She often talked about her dream to one day retire there. Her door was always open to those in need. It was not unusual to learn she helped bring someone to this country and often house them in her own home. She touched the lives of many people. Her legacy will live in the hearts and minds of everyone she interacted with as well as those she reached but never had the fortune of meeting her.

Lizzy was predeceased by her father, Joao De Oliveira S. Ferro and survived by her loving mother, Raquel Silva Ferro of Rumford, RI; her children Derek Dalomba and his fiancé Jacqueline Collet of Riverside, Erica Campbell and her husband Tyrone of Riverside, Danielle Harris of Providence, Dominique Harris of New York; She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Caleb Michael Nason, Valencia Dalomba, Amalia Lima Swepson, Tyree Ellis Campbell and Tye Maxwell Campbell; Her siblings Lina Maria Silva of Fall River, MA, Carlos Ferro and his wife Kim of Cranston, Daniel Ferro of Boyton Beach, FL, Ilidio Ferro and his wife Gail of Coral Springs, FL, Anibal Ferro of East Providence, RI and Maria F. Deaton of Providence, RI. She is further survived by loving Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Visiting hours will be held at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Avenue, Lincoln, RI on Thursday September 30, 2021 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held at Bethany Church of the Nazarene, 1275 Pawtucket Avenue, Rumford, RI on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 10:00a.m. Burial services will follow at Rumford Cemetery, Rumford, RI.
