Joaquim B. Goncalves, 82, passed peacefully on November 27, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Benvinda DaCruz Goncalves for over 50 years.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, he was a son of the late Henrique Goncalves and Eugenia Barros
Joaquim was self employed for many years in Brava, Cape Verde before immigrating to the United States in 1981.
He was an avid card player and was most happy when he was with family and friends and had a deep connection to Brava.
Besides his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Aquila Santos, Maria Eugenia Goncalves, Zica Goncalves, Domingas Goncalves, Cici Goncalves Keefe her husband Tommy Keefe, a son, Jorge DaCruz, twenty-one grandchildren, five great grandchildren, a sister, Eliza Barros Goncalves, two nieces Dina and Lucy, and nephew, Armando. He was the father of the late Joaquim Goncalves Jr.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 30th from 4pm until 8pm in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln.
