Irma DeFaria DaRosa, 87, of East Providence, RI passed on to be with the lord on Wednesday, December 29, 2021. Irma was born on June 4, 1934 to the late Francisco B. DeFaria and Regina Lopes DeFaria. Irma was born in Brava, Cape Verde immigrated to Dakar, Senegal before moving to the United States in November 1963. She was a long time resident of East Providence, RI. She was a wise, courageous, strong-willed, and determined woman who spoke the truth and lived life to its fullest. Irma would feed you her native Cape Verdean dishes. She would often sit and talk with you whenever she saw you even though she spoke a little English since Creole was her native language. She had been employed as a seamstress for over 25 years at Health Tex Corp before retiring from Monet.
She is survived by 2 children; Chalechia Campinha of East Providence, Joan Campinha of East Providence, 4 Grandchildren Brittany Lima, Alicia Lima, Isaiah Serena and Jenissa DeOliveira and 2 great-granddaughters Aria Lince and Acelynn Parker. She is the sister of the Late Sebastian DeFaria and aunt to 5 nieces and 2 nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Thursday, January 6th from 9:00am – 11:00am, followed by a service at 11:00am at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln, RI 02865. Burial will follow at Gates of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence, RI.
