(Lavallee), 50, of Cumberland passed away Tuesday peacefully, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on February 17, 1960, in Central Falls, the daughter of Mary (Vasques) Lavallee and the late Rolland A. Lavallee.
Marie is survived by her best friend and beloved husband, Bruce P. Bouchard. She was a devoted mother to Holly Lavallee of Lincoln, Bruce R. Bouchard and Sarah Bouchard Of Cumberland and was the doting grandmother of Connor Gray. She leaves four brothers, Roland Lavallee of Providence, Leo and Paul Lavallee of Lincoln and David Lavallee of New Bedford. She was a cherished sister of Claudette Lavallee. She was loved by a large extended family of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom will never forget Marie's sweet and loving nature. Marie was a fun-loving and generous person who would always go out of her way to help others during hard times or who were not as fortunate as her. She loved spending time with her family, especially her husband, which was usually time spent down by the ocean either clamming, fishing, or just relaxing and of course she always had to have clamcakes and chowder no matter what. Her strongest trait was being a wonderful mother to her children. She would absolutely do anything for them, including taking her children's friends in when they had nowhere else to stay. She would mother them like her own. Some of them called her home "Hotel Marie" they also referred to her as "Mama Bouchard". Marie was strong minded to a fault and everyone loved her for it. In all her years she never lost an argument, not that she was always right but she would just wear you down to the point of surrender. Marie also loved her bingo nights. Even though she did not win very often she said it was still worth it since she got to spend time with her mother. Aside from her husband, if you asked her who her best friend was, the answer would always be, "My sister Claudette." There has never been a tighter bond between sisters. One of the biggest joys in her life was her grandson Connor, whom she called "Lovey" and absolutely adored. Marie's passing has left so many hearts broken that in time will be healed. For we have so many wonderful memories of her to last the rest of our lives until we meet again.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 5 to 8pm followed by a service at 8pm in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln. In lieu of flowers Memorial gifts in her memory may be made to Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St, Providence RI 02904.
