He was the husband of Irene Duarte, they have been married for 65 years.
Born in Vila Ruiva, Fornos de Algodres, Guarda Portugal, He had been employed as a backhoe operator for Valley Gas for over 30 years.
He was the father of the late Odete Furtado.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three grandchildren, Gary Furtado, Kim Medeiros and her husband Michael, and Jason Furtado and his wife Danielle, two great grandchildren, Alexis 7 years and Brayden 2 years, a brother, Jose Duarte, a sister, Alexandrina Albuquerque, a son in law, Gary Furtado. He was the brother of the late Maria Celia Cabral, Maria Dos Anjos Carvalho, Hilda Esteves and Julio Duarte.
His funeral will be held Monday at 8:45am from the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland at 10am. Burial will be in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours that will be held Sunday from 5 to 8pm.
