72, passed away Wednesday peacefully, on the Eve of his daughter's birthday, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 7, 1938, in Pawtucket, RI, he was the son of the late David W. and Blanche (Arpin) Lapham. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, 823 Air Division, and a member of the Rehoboth Country Club. Don is survived by his best friend and beloved wife, Cecile (Tierney) Lapham. He was a devoted father to Debra Pereira and her husband Douglas of North Attleboro, Rachel Oakley and her husband Harry of Lincoln, Susan Lapham and her fiance RJ LaPointe of Lincoln, and Cecile Xavier and her husband Richard of Tennessee. He was the doting grandfather of Brittany, Brenna and Matthew Pereira of North Attleboro, Harry Oakley of Narragansett, Lindsey Oakley and Tim Barlow of New York, Corporal Justyn D. Charon, USMC, and his girlfriend Greer Monahan of East Greenwich, Specialist Nicholas Lapham, Rhode Island Army National Guard of Lincoln, Michael Xavier of Tennessee and the late Dylan Paul Lapham. He was loved by a large extended family of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom will never forget Don's sweet and loving nature as well as his true love for his beloved wife and best friend, his family, sports and horse racing. He was predeceased by his nephew David Lapham. Strong willed to the end for his wife and children, but with a tender caring heart, his wit and charm will be sorely missed. His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9am from the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Jude Church, Front St, Lincoln at 10am. Burial with Military Honors will be in Ressurection Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held Monday from 5 to 8PM.
